This is a good description of Creative Spaces, but I think it's important to acknowledge the full scope of the project. It has two main parts with the federated search an underpinning tool. The two main parts are: Webquests and Creative Spaces. Webquests are research-based projects for schools and young people. Here's a link to Webquests http://nmolp.iwm.org.uk/webquests/

I (for my company, Flow Associates) delivered a related project, the National Collections Online Feasibility Study, which included looking at the legacy and potential of the NMOLP. I think it's a great achievement.
