		<description>This is a real change for Facebook. I went over to visit them in 2008 and met the team (one person) looking at research/polls as a product for Facebook. 

Back then online research was not working out and they simply couldn&#039;t see a way to make it into a significant revenue stream. Let&#039;s hope they&#039;ve sussed it out - as you say, the size of their audience is very appealing. 

My worry, in addition to concerns above, is that if they use members&#039; profile data as a basis for segmentation or analysis, they may get a skewed view of the world. Afterall, a Facebook profile, like a CV, tends to be &quot;the best possible version of me&quot;. 

It&#039;s a potential issue, but one they ought to be able to work around if they sign people up to be part of a closed online panel or online research mini-community.</description>
