Nice post Matt - I'm doing exactly the same sort of research at the moment too - trying to establish: are international c-suite influenced by p2p networks when it comes to major purchasing decisions, or is it still a more traditional model - based on trusted advisors (including analysts, media, and peers). And if they are, are these networks still predominantly off-line? If they're online, where (Lex/FT.com/Economist)?! No answers yet, but if you fancy sharing some thoughts, then do dm me @chris_reed.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the comment. I agree that the C-level market for online communities is more likely to be closed or private. They want to feel safe and the appeal is probably the ability to network and interact with people only like them.

Hi,

I suspect if there is to be a C-level market for online communities it is more likely than not to be a closed/ gated community.

VisualCV are part funded by Heidrick & Struggles - I wonder if the VisualCV community product is something that attracted Heidricks.. I interviewed their VP for Product Development on my blog - you can see his views at http://onlinerecruiter.blogspot.com/2008/07/cv-unchangeable-part-of-recruitment.html
